Sick of Avast asking for more money.

Why oh why does Avast keep popping up security messages ? such as: be invisible on online. Click here to make yourself invisible. You click it and it directs you a product it claims you need to buy. I paid an annual subscription to Avast to keep me safe online why on earth am I not invisible online after already shelling out ? Ridiculous!

It’s an add for ‘Secureline VPN’ which is a separately paid service.
Not sure why you’re getting this continual popup in a PAID version of Avast.

Hi annecharles,

The avast av solution program probably detected under the hood that under certain circumstances you would be better protected via the paid separate VPN service.
The pop-up is just bringing that to your attention and I can think there are situations where this is a good idea (user heads-up). When I was abroad and using a public MikroTik open wifi router service from the town where I resided (sponsored by the EEG and driven by the local IT Higher Education Institute, so a service that was as secure as hell  ) avast also popped up such a message when I logged on as a lot of such services from buses, large department stores, etc could be (more or less) insecure. You might have heard that avast now also disables IP6 when you are connected via a cheap router at home without decent firewalling. Yes the straightforward old signature driven av solution or the minimalistic 70% detecting Microsoft Security Essentials are now things from the past!. The drawback is that part of that new technology also has to prove itself, and still has some bugs and configuration issues.

@ annecharles.
If you are not familiar with Secureline VPN you might find useful information here:http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB44#artTitle
Just scroll to " What is Avast Secureline"?

annecharles, since you have a paid subscription you can disable the popup ads. In the AvastUI, go to Settings | General tab and scroll down to Popups. Uncheck “Show popup offers for other Avast products”.

in the current version of Avast Mobile Security Premium for Android, there is no General option under Settings nor is there one for Popup control.

closest thing I can find is Notification Center and Disable advisory notifications. I have this checked and still the secureline popup springs up

since I’m with AT&T, I can use AT&T subscriber hotspots and chosen to set my device to connect to these when available. Having a popup blocking my navigation app while driving by two or three available subscriber hotspots is annoying.

Hi r_brasche and welcome to Avast forums.

I believe that Gopher John said above refers to Avast for PC and no for AMS. Any questions for AMS/AT is better to ask here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=66.0

iroc9555, you are correct.
