I have 6 machines running avast pro and outpost pro, don’t matter how I set the rules and leave the outpost on learn mode for days avast keep on asking for different outbound connections .
What on earth is this. Sorry I am frustrated I have 2 kids I don’t want them to touch or keep on being prompt for action from outpost by avast , the way I set things should be sufficient, but ether avast “setup” or AVASTEMUPDATE keep on asking for requests on daily bases.
I would be fine if once all this is established by avast, but after days its keep on asking for new outbound connection and if you look at the keys strings created by avast , they are always different.
Any help with this please, I’m not newbie, but this is just ridicules.
Thanks
All you have to do is setup the appropriate rules for avast in Outpost.
You may have to use wildcards while doing so.
Well I have avast free and Outpost Firewall pro (currently on version 9.3) and no real issues in the time I have been using both (over eleven and a half years).
I have done negligible exclusions for either program.
I have Outpost Pro set on Rules Wizard for the Firewall and Policy Settings. For the most part the Application Rules are minimal for seeking permissions, but once allowed they remain in my Application Rules. I don’t know how Outpost Pro works on a multi user system, if it has a separate set of application rules for each user or refers to a system set of rules.
This isn’t avast (it is going about its business) but Outpost Pro blocking access (going about its business) until you allow it.
Avast does a check for any Emergency Update (avastemupdate.exe) if one is present then it creates a unique file name to download and install the update. See attached image, the first for entries are some of those unique file names. Purging gets rid of three of them leaving only the last one used.
I don’t know if you are aware but Agnitum have sold out to Yandex http://www.agnitum.com/news/2016-01-14-yandex-acquired-agnitum-technology.php.
Thanks DavidR.
I too have been avast pro and OFP user for a long time I think when I was first introduced to avast and outpost, they both were on version 4.0 so I am familiar with both and usually I can mange minor annoyances, but with this one it’s just ;D ;D
For time being I told my kids about the few extra popups that they might be getting and to hit “allow” at the end of the day I can correct whatever they did unintentionally wrong, but maybe tomorrow if I will find little more time I will sit and try to figure this out.
As far is Agnitum being gone! that’s sad, yes they have notified me via- news about their closure and joining Yandex.
I don’t even care about the lifetime licenses I have with both OSS and OFP for up to 12 PCs, it’s just sad to see them go.
Since OFP doesn’t require any updates opposed to OSS, I will still use it until the end of Windows 7 support, which is until 2020, the only thing I might need is extra licenses of avast
Thanks for the effort.
You’re welcome.
Like you I will continue to use Agnitum OFP on both of my systems with lifetime licenses, I never though that life time licence would be theirs rather than mine
