Win Vista HP 64-BIT running on two PC’s but the above fault only shows on the one PC (Both PC’s have identical software/hardware) The PC that the fault shows up on is clear if 'thorough scan without ‘scan archives’ ticked but the moment ‘scan archives’ is ticked the fault appears. Only happened since update ‘build 4.8.1227’ and recent JAVA update. Not over worried but just interested as to why the fault only shows up on the one PC.

Is the MD5 of the file the same in both computers?
http://gtools.org/tool/md5-hash-generator/

Is avast installation the same?

Appreciate your interest.

The Avast installation was the same but the Java installation was different. No corresponding file (3c91455f-652a5b1f\OP.class" file) was found in the Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\31 folder on the ‘clear’ PC, so I will have to find the reason the Java installation differs from one PC to the other…many thanks for the pointer.

Hi there, try clearing your java cache

Go to Start > Control Panel

Double click on Java

click Settings > Delete files

Make sure the boxes are checked

Click OK.

Thanks…it was as simple as that - all clear now

Next time, can you send the samples to virus@avast.com ?
You can zip and password the files… Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
You can send the files to Chest and, from there, resend to Alwil for analysis.
This will help to improve/correct detections.

Will do. I did read that somewhere but although I searched the Avast program for the address/procedure, I drew a blank but certainly, next time, I will send the ‘dodgy’ file.

Ray

Thanks Ray for helping improving detection.
