Silent/Gaming Mode setting not 'sticky'

My dentist uses streaming audio in his office as he found a jazz site that he likes. Unfortunately several times a day he gets the “Virus Database Has Been Updated” coming through the speakers in his operatory and waiting room. He sets the thing to Silent/Gaming Mode - the task bar sroll-up shows the check mark, but over time it turns itself off. He’s also gone into the GUI and turned it on there (turn ON to turn off the sound). Yet it comes back. Windows 7 Pro w/ current updates, Avast 7 Pro. Is there any way to REALLY turn off that notification?

Whilst the silent gaming mode should work, in the meantime he can disable that audio notice.

From the avastUI, Settings, Sounds, Events and uncheck the Automatic update option. However, given the silent gaming mode is meant to disable all messages/pop-ups/alerts, it isn’t clear that this included sounds.

When he enabled gaming mode in the avastUI, Summary it should show a Notice that Silent mode is on. - does it ?

Thanks for the response. I’ll tell him about the check box in the SETTINGS / SOUNDS panel, he (and I) didn’t know about it. To answer your question, yes it did show that it was enabled in the GUI. I think that perhaps it gets reset when the machine goes to sleep and is subsequently woken.
