Probably a dumb question but if you are in Silent/Gaming mode and Avast encounters malware does it display a warning and give you options to deal with it? In general, I’d rather not have any sounds or pop-ups, but the exceptions to that would be malware encountered in real time and malware encountered in scans.
Also, I couldn’t find anything in the Free Edition Help menu on how to access the Virus Chest. Are you able to access it only after the program puts a file in it? Does a box then appear to provide a way to get there?
Sorry for all the questions, but I couldn’t figure things out through the Help file.
Well I though the screen text in the Silent/Gaming mode self explanatory if enabled no messages/pop-ups/alerts will be displayed.
Well how are you going to get anything other than a detection in real time (on-access) as you aren’t going to be running an on-demand scan whilst gaming. So the only alert/malware detection you are going to get is on-access (real time).
Have you not been playing with the avast User Interface (UI), Maintenance, Virus Chest ?
The help file is good but there really is nothing like practical rooting around in the UI, don’t go changing things (until you are more familiar) and importantly what impact that change might have before making it.
