silent mode for resident protection question

Hi, if I have it always say Ok and a virus warning comes up it will put it in the virus chest.

However, if I set the max size of the chest to 0 and i set the max size of file to be sent to chest to 0

what will happen to the file?

Will it be deleted? Will it still be on my computer?
please help!

Benny

I want it to be deleted automatically by the way

Sorry, only available in Professional edition of avast!. In Home Edition you’re limited to moving in chest(quarantine) only.

ohok… thanks for your prompt reply!! that was like lightning!!
 but… if I set the chest settings to zero and it doesn’t go into the chest because of this … where does it go? I have tested this and found a site with a TMP virus… when i have it click ok it goes to the chest

when I set the chest settings to 0 it doesn’t go into the chest… my question is this a way to automatically delete the virus? or does it just not infect me?

thanks!

Ben

No,i don’t belive it can infect you. Although there is a possibility since avast! was never designed for such scenario (at least not in Home Edition).
Anyway,it’s best to auto move files to chest,so you can review and restore them if they appear to be false positive. Maybe Alwil guys can tell us more what happens in your “special” case.

You won’t get infected but the file will remain there in my opinion.
The answer Yes in Silent Mode keeps the virus in the file or into the message (attach) and continue the scanning.
You can’t configure ‘delete the infected file’ in the Home version.
