I’ve read various topics on the board about setting up silent running, but i still can’t get it to work for me.
I’ve modified the Virus tab for all my providers in the resident task. Currently I’m trying “move to chest, if failed, delete file”. I’ve tried variations on that theme, none of which include user intervention, yet I still get the splash screen for occasional e-mails.
My problem is that if Outlook on my dekstop at home halts pending a response to Avast! and I am not there, then my anti-spam (Cloudmark) doesn’t get a chance to purge and when I access my mail via IE when at work I am presented with all my spam!
So, is it that viruses are being silently assassinated, but suspicious messages need my intervention? If so, as all “suspicious messages” that I have seen so far I have deleted immediately, can I automate that behanviour?
Check the “Heuristics” page of the mail provider (Internet Mail, I guess). There’s an option called “Silent mode” there which should do what you are after.
