Hello guys,
Just wondering what I have to do to prevent the blue pop-up notification window appearing above the blue avast icon in the system tray.
What happens:
“VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED” with speach.
I want to disable this pop-up notification along with the audio. I use XP’s event viewer and can see for myself when it is updated.
I think I need to add something to the avast4.ini file.
I just can’t remember as it’s been sooooo long!
Thanks!
Steele Wolf
PS: I don’t mind seeing the window for program updates.
Nothing I entered into the Avast Program settings worked: NORMAL VS SILENT… show status info not checked.

DOH!
Sorry… I was searching the forum for 15 minutes entering in all kinds of keywords in the hopes of finding that thread.
Guess I went about it the wrong way!
Thank you very much VLK!!
This is exactly what I needed!
*hugs from a very happy doggie! ;D

BTW pretty funny - that thread is almost exactly 1 year old…
Do you always reinstall avast before the New Year’s Eve??? ;D

hehehe ;D
Seems that way doesn’t it?
NAh… I’ve been thinking recently about turning the feature off for a while now. I recently did a clean install of Windows XP Professional Gold! Corporate Edition with SP2 (SLIPSTREAMED) onto my rig.
After installing Avast4Home, I thought it would be a neat thing to try on my XP machine.
The reason I posted that request a year ago was for a 2K Pro rig I built for my family that was using avast also.
I just wanted to add that “suppress updated info” feature to my XPPRO rig as I sometimes find it a little bit annoying.
I check the built in XP PRO event viewer logs and find all the Avast info I need in terms of latest updates.
To bad XP Home users don’t have that neat little option huh?
Thanks again!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! ;D
