I used to have Avast Mobile Security installed on my phone but uninstalled it some time ago (I can’t remember exactly when). About two months ago, I changed the SIM in my mobile. Today my wife’s mobile received an SMS from my mobile that informed her that my SIM had been changed and went on to list the SIM number, telephone number and other relevant information about my mobile. I assume that I registered with Avast at the time that I installed the Mobile Security software but no longer remember which email address or passwords I used. How do I prevent my mobile sending out similar SMS messages in the future? Information appreciated.
It looks very much like the SMS is from Avast, but you tell me. This is what the SMS reads:
Quote:
Avast! Anti-Theft.
(www.avast.com): a sim card change was detected on (my name’s) mobile phone. The current phone number of the phone is the sender number of this sms. Details will follow once location tracking is done.
that seems like avast! indeed. Well, do you remember your PIN from the time you used avast! Anti-Theft? If so, just call it using your dialer and then disable it. If you remember your PIN and want an easy uninstall, instal Mobile Security again and in its Settings there is an Anti-Theft uninstallation wizard.
