Simple user interface fails to load after memory scan

Hi, guys!

I would like to ask if you have also encountered my problem, and if you have the solution: everytime I start avast! 4.8, it scans the memory but fails to show the Simple User Interface. Even if I wait for up to 15 minutes, it still won’t show. But if I try to start it up again from the desktop shortcut, then bypass the memory test, the Interface will show itself. Then, when I click on the Virus chest button, it also won’t show. Could you provide me with the solution to this problem? Or should I just uninstall Avast and opt for another antivirus brand?

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP, Vista?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Can you run ashSimp2.exe from avast folder?

Thanks for the reply. I have Vista Home Basic O/S. I am not using any other antivirus software.
