Hello!
Yesterday, my computer got infected by sirefef.
I’ve tried the instructions detailed here: http://malwaretips.com/Thread-How-to-completely-remove-ZeroAccess-Sirefef-rootkit-Removal-Guide but Windows Security Essentials is still saying there’s traces of sirefef in my computer. Not as much as there was before, but it’s still there.
Help please? This computer is relatively new and I don’t want anything bad happening to it already.
I’m running Windows 7 x64-bit.
I don’t have the installation disk to Windows; the computer came with it pre-installed and they didn’t give me a Windows 7 disk.

EDIT: I’m going to try and clarify all of the problems I am having just in case it happens to help the process at all. This list will most likely be updated often, as I am recalling things suddenly.
- For a while now, whenever I turn off my computer/reboot it, I have to uninstall my drivers and then have my computer scan for the drivers again because my keyboard doesn’t function unless I do so. Doing this last night caused two more cases of sirefef to pop up in Windows Security Essentials. It happened every time I scanned for drivers.
- Like some people on this forum, all of my problems started happening after clicking on something about an “Adobe Update”. ugh.
- My computer has gotten a little bit laggy, and it seems like the mouse cursor is moving a little bit too smoothly, but that might just be my paranoia.
- My default browser and home page were also altered, but again, I don’t know if that’s relevant or if that’s just my paranoia.
- Last night, I heard an ad for a movie or something, even when I closed all of the windows and programs on my computer. When I checked the sound option, it said that something with no name available was running.
