I’d like to ask is there any novelty about the setting “Enable skins for Simple User Interface” in the new 4.8.1282 version?
I have a custom installation (without skins) because I don’t use them, but I like a lot only the default ALWIL’s skin - Silver Panel. So, with the previous version I had that setting activated and I haven’t had any issues, but since I updated to 4.8.1282 yesteday I have to chek that setting everytime after any reboot - e.g. - it deactivates by itself?..
Skins are skins are skins, no novelty they are either on or off no difference in 4.8.1828 to previous versions. If you have disables skins previously and you update to 4.8.1282 nothing will change, your settings will remain the same. The same should be true if they were enabled, they should remain enabled.
So I don’t know what is happening with your settings, are you running an account with administrator privileges ?
Have you actually selected a skin after you check the “Enable skins for Simple User Interface” ?
Using notepad, check the “C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini” [Quick] section, the EnableSkins line should =1 e.g. enabled, if not set the value to 1 and save the changes the avast self-defence will ask if your sure, etc. answer Yes (see example below of my quick section and the start of the next section [iAVS].
