I’m new to Avast! - love it so far; but I’m trying to change the skin. I’ve downloaded some skins from the download section. I’ve put them in the “skins” folder. But, when I go to change the skin, the downloaded skins are not in the list. How do I get the downloaded skins in the list?
Double click on the downloaded skins and they will install.
And also, if you are using IE (i’m not sure for other browsers) all skins should auto-install themselves as soon as you click on them. You don’t have to save them first somewhere on the disk, and then search for them and install them manually. If your avast! installation path is unchanged, by default all skins should be inside this path:
C:/Program Files/Alwil Software/Avast4/Data/Skin/
All skins inside should have .asws extension. Then you can see them in skin browser inside avast! antivirus. That’s kinda extracted version of .aswcs files (spot the difference). Those files are packed self extracting skin files. If you wanna start the skin out of those files, you can not just put them into skins directory. You have to double click them as Eddy already mentioned in his reply…
Cheers !
(i'm not sure for other browsers)
In firefox, as long as you choose the option to “open” and not “save to disk” it will auto-install the avast skin for you.

As lee16 says firefox will do as it says. Also if using firefox and you choose to “Save to file” Firefox will let the skins be automatically opened by double left clicking on the finished download Icon as already stated.

Same with Internet Explorer and Maxton browser (former MyIE2)… except, it’s not SAVE AS, but SAVE TARGET AS in IE…
