My last scran produced a huge list of files that were skipped due to scanner settings but there is no rhyme or reason to the files that were skipped. They are from different directories that I did not specify not to be scanned.
After that, I updated the program to whatever the newest version is and did a boot scan. I watched the end and it looked like everything went okay. But now I cannot view the results of the last scan. When I go to “menu”, the option is un-selectable.
First, I assume you’re refering to the avast Enhanced GUI, right?
If so, which menu option are you talking about, exactly? Also, please check the settings of the on-demand task that you were using, namely the ones on the Results page. The “skipped due to scanner settings” entry can be checked or unchecked. Also, the ability to view the result set later is governed by the check box called “Store results in avast database”.
I don’t think jenn8 refers to the Enhanced UI - on contrary
So, to answer the questions:
There certainly should be some reason given for skipping the files (such as “because of scanner settings” - meaning that you didn’t run a “thorough scan”, in which case only potentially dangerous file types are scanned, the rest is skipped) - if the columns are too narrow and the later part of the text is stripped, try to widen it (by dragging the column header).
The menu option “Last scanned results” is enabled only when there actually were any results during the last scan (e.g. an infected files was found). If nothing was detected during the last scan, it’s probably disabled.
