It appears that not much thought was given to the Avast 8 update. It will not work on Windows XP, it bluescreens every one
I’ve tried it on. So I will probably be switching to another virus protection in the future!!!

Falcon702,
Like other people on here it could because of the latest update, remove using the awsclear and you could downgrade to 7 or use avg until they release another update to counter this.
Please let him answer first. :
Even to me, blue screen after update. Disinstalled and reinstalled did not solve the problem. Disinstalled and looking for something else.
WinXPProSP3.
If you need help, please start a new topic.
If you already made up your mind to go elsewhere, good luck.
I installed it successfully on two XP Pro and one XP Home machines the other day. Only used the standard uninstall and then installed version 8.
No Blue Screens of Death yet and seems to work ok on both computers. I also run Malwarebytes Pro on both.
I will say though that I cannot get it to install on any Vista x64 machines. Installs ok but computers freeze at startup every time. There’s another posting about Vista though.
please upload the BSOD’s dumps to ftp.avast.com/incoming
