Hello! I recently reformatted my hdd and reinstalled Win 7 x86 and after I install avast free 8 boot time becomes very slow. It hangs on the welcome screen, and then it takes very long time to load my gadgets and to sign into skype. My pc is not that fast, but when i remove avast everything is fine. Also a friend of mine reinstalled windows on both of his PCs and has the same problem. Is there a solution for this?
how did you reinstall…using a microsoft CD…or a recovery CD / recovery partition, setting it back to factory specc ?
With a windows dvd. I’m sure that is not the problem.
no…but it may be if you used a recovery CD/partition
many new comp have a factory installed AV, like a 90 day Norton / McAfee / TrendMicro and when you use the recovery then you reinstall it
this must then be uninstalled before installing avast, if not you get a slow machine, mysterious windows errors and false detections
Nope… installed from clean windows dvd. I had the same problem even before i reinstalled it. I have another friend who has a gaming rig (amd fx-6100, 8 GB RAM) and his PC boots slower even than mine after he upgraded to avast 8. ![]()
Any ideas? ![]()
Almost the same problem
Okay, so a friend of mine who has a pc with Intel Core i5 3.0GHz, 4GB Ram reinstalled his windows os too, and after he installed avast his boot time became extremely slow (about 1 minute). I solved my problem by switching to different av. Now my pc boots for about ~33sec. But I really like avast, so when you guys fix the boot issues (which i had since v7) i will be ready to switch back to avast. ![]()
Can somebody help?
