My first post about this…I don’t know how to find it.
My system slows down and/ or locks up when I’m playing online games.
I have silent mode on. My Avast account is a paid version.
The problem is…Avast.
When the cursor starts going wonky like its going to lock up, and then does,
there is an Avast update running in the background.
That’s not suppose to happen.
Hello,
for starters, try turning off the auto updates and see if it’s truly an update that’s causing the problem.
Giving us some more information about your system and what other security software
you’re running would also help.
What was your old Anti Virus program and how did you remove it ???
I found a McAfee thing left over in my programs. I deleted it. The could be what’s causing the problem, and not Avast. The rest of the program I deleted from the control panel. I missed that one.
This morning there was an Avast program update I had to do.
I also found Mozilla was sending an update. This is a new CPU barely used. There are a few other
things in here I’ll have to ask my son about. They might be running in the background. Once all that is cleared out maybe that will take care of the problem.
dayryme,
To help you fully remove any remnants from the old McAfee, follow the instructions in the following link:
Uninstalling third-party antivirus software (Removing your Current AV) https://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng&_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=574
It’s one of the things I email to each of the clubs after If done the avast! security seminar to make the transition to avast! 6
happen effortlessly.
