Slow Downloading from other sites

Hi! I just installed Avast (free edition) on my computer (it is brand new) and since i’ve done it, my download speed has gone done considerably. Is there a way to fix this? I know it could be something to do with firewall, but don’t know how to fix it…anyone can help?

What are your system specifications as to CPU type and speed and the amount of RAM?

What is the operating system Vista or Windows 7?

Was there any antivirus preinstalled on it? If so, what? Have you removed it?
