Without doubt this UI opens like a three toed sloth rushing for breakfast and it hasn’t just been in 18.2.2328. It has been like this for some time now. There have been several attempts to speed it up, it has been split into two stages, first coming up fairly blank before it gets populated, but over all still slow.
There has by all accounts another attempt to speed it up in the current beta session, but I don’t know how successful this has been - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=217269.0.
thanks info, i wait final version
You’re welcome.
I don’t live in the UI so it doesn’t trouble me that much. I just can’t understand why it would be so damn slow and why it has taken so long to resolve it. Looking at that beta topic, it is a little quicker but still far from fast/quick.
maybe avast must make new engine UI in 2018 light and fast, avast unsuccessful make UI avast 8 problem same slow UI
The new beta (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=217269.0) does increase the speed of the UI loading.
You can try it and should be released to the stable channel within a few weeks.
Trying the Beta means you’ll need to totally remove it (Clean install) to get back to the regular build.
I don’t understand. I opened avg beta UI and it opened so much faster than avast. I like avg alot better than avast. I hope they incorporate some of the things from avg into avast.
That was already done some time ago.
Avast new beta(18.3.2330) is also slow. :(…AVG is much faster and better day by day.Avast what is going on? :-\
I think that they already have, but whilst trying to maintain the two identities Avast and A V G, they have two different interfaces. Considering they would have the same components and the need to access them, one is fast and the other is sloth like, almost like watching paint dry.
In time no doubt there will be one interface, but to make the change too soon would displease both camps users.
When you say slow, is that the time it takes the UI to load up or is it that the UI loads at a decent speed without real data which is then slow to load the elements?
Both for me.
I think that has already been established, some time ago when the avastUI loaded everything once it was left hanging for a considerable time.
Then the Avast two step UI was invented so it didn’t look like it was so damn slow. The problem being the blank step one still took time before step two loaded. Over all there appeared to be no difference before you got a useable UI.
You just have to ask why is the avastUI slow when the AVGUI isn’t, surely it can’t be beyond the collective wit of the AvastUI designers to resolve this. Yes this is essentially cosmetic, but for the problem to have been dragging its heels for so long, cosmetic becomes a pain in the backside.
I’ll get this feedback forwarded to the UI devs.

Thanks, whilst it doesn’t trouble me that much (for the most part I keep out of the UI) I’m sure this will be welcomed by many.
