Slow shutdown still with latest version

The slow shutdown issue with the 1517 warnings in the Application event log are still present with this newest version when the two system tray icons are merged.

I never imagined that the two icons merged has anything about this… but, as you say…
I have tons of Windows Events too, a lot related to Opera skins, Real Player skins… I have not opened these applications today, or yesterday, but tons of Events were registered… :stuck_out_tongue:

can I check? Are you reporting that this problem was one continually encountered with the previous release and continues with this new release, or is this a previously fixed problem that has re-surfaced with the new release.

Just out of interest - are you using a firewall and if so, which one?

Hello,
I am using this Microsoft tool (User Profile Hive Cleanup Service) to prevent these 1517 warnings from occurring, works pretty good for me.

I was not having any 1517 warnings from avast usage, but from several other apps on my PC.

Here is link for the tool if you want to try it out:

alanrf,

This problem was reported with the last version of avast. I couldn’t believe it but when I tried it it was true. If you split the icons, the warnings dissappear and the PC shuts down faster. It was never fixed. I don’t think it was even acknowleged by the avast team. Can the avast team comment?

I used user profile hive cleanup service but I don’t want another service running on my PC permanantly. This tool was mainly designed to help troubleshoot these errors, not to run all the time.

As I understand the profile hive cleanup will report the keys and services responsible for the 1517 events.

I think that a “one off” run to produce an up to date list in the two different conditions (shutdown with icons combined and shutdown with icons split) in version 731 would be a valuable piece of diagnosis for the avast team.

If many others were encountering this same problem with any regularity then it’s likely that we would see more reports.

I have the icons combined and only see this event very sporadically. The only time I have seen them regularly was on an update to ZoneAlarm earlier this year.

The profile hive cleanup reported a svchost service. I contacted the author about this and she was unable to determine what specifically caused it.
