I installed Avast 4 Home on my PC yesterday. Avast, like many other anti-virus products, is slow at system startup. Is there any way to make it run faster?
(my OS is Win XP Pro. All updates installed.)
Do you have alot programs that run at startup?
SAMer - I can tell you that it must be something else. My W98SE computer actually got faster at start-up after dumping McAfee for avast! And I’m sure Norton would be even slower.
SAMer, I agree with CharleyO. I used McAfee, Norton and AVG.
avast is the most reliable and fast for me, both in Windows XP and 98. 
What exactly is “slow”?
You can try disabling/uninstalling the resident providers you don’t need, but I doubt it will make any difference.
