I had Avast 4.8 on my windows 7 X64 machine and everything ran perfect. When I upgraded to avast 5 my system slowed to a crawl and takes 2 minutes to login. Also I have The Bat 4.0.38 which is not detected by Avast 5 for e-mail support. I have tried a full shutdown and fresh install but the problems still persist. What can I do or do I have to go back to Avast 4.8 to get my performance and E-mail support back?
Try to defrag your hard drive.
Use built-in disk defragmenter.
Avast 5 does not contain the plugin for The Bat but mail is scanned by the generic mail scanner.
Hello vojtech,
are you saying then that you’ve completely stopped providing the plugin for The Bat!? I rather hope not!
I also just upgraded to Avast 5 Pro (3 year licence) from v 4.8 Pro and noticed that the plugin for The Bat! was absent. This is a big issue for me as I rely on it being present. Aside Avast’s performance, this was one of the main reasons I purchased Avast pro, and to find that it is simply withdrawn without any warning (if this is the case) wouldn’t in any way be fair on customers…IMO.
Please can make available a plugin for The Bat! and restore functionality for your Avast / TB! users.
Thankyou.
Ten days…well I’m guessing not then. :-/
I have just installed the free version to test with a view to buying Avast Professional but without a plug-in for The Bat (v4.2) there would be no point.
Yes, I’m also regretting my decision now. :-/
