Long time fan and user of AVAST Free edition.
Recently updated to the latest program version and the system immediately began behaving poorly after the installation completed.
Windows 7 Pro 64bit with 8gb ram, AVAST Free Edition.
Uninstalled AVAST but the system is still slow.
Ran Malwarebytes which came up clean (log attached).
Ran FRST and replaced user name with ***** in log files (logs attached).
Ran aswMBR (log attached).
Appreciate any insight you can offer.
Will reinstall AVAST Free directly and look forward to hearing back from someone.

Now that I have reinstalled Avast the system appears to be behaving well again.
I think that the re-installation may have sorted out some problem that it had with the last update.
But expert eyes on those log files may be able to provide some insight on this.

Thanks for checking out the logs for me.
As I said, after reinstalling AVAST Free Edition from scratch the machine seems to be acting normally again.
Something must have gone wrong with the program update that removal did not sort out but reinstallation did.

I tend to find that if I have a problem after the update a fresh install usually works wonders
