I did a boot scan and found quite a bit of crap. But my computer is still running slow…

Here are the Logs.

Did you create this batch file ?

Startup: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Logon.lnk ShortcutTarget: Logon.lnk -> \\Ebbe-server\netlogon\logon.bat ()

Yes, i created it.

Could you let me know what problems you have after this

You had nearly 6GB of junk files, so could you run disc defrag and see if there is an improvement

How do I go about doing that?

Follow the steps here http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/defragmenting-a-hard-drive-in-windows-7.html

I performed the defrag. I can’t really tell a difference, but let me run it for 24 hrs and let you know if it’s better or the same. Thanks!

OK keep me informed as there are a few other tricks to try

I don’t mind trying more ideas in the meantime.

Is the main problem area startup or when running programmes

Running programs for the most part (outlook, excel, etc…).

OK we will use clean boot first
After the reboot check your normal programmes and let me know how it is

In the search box type Msconfig and select the programme that appears at the top

1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/Cleanboot1.JPG

2.Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
NoteThe Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
3.Click the Services tab.
4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/cleanboot2.JPG

5.Click Disable All, and then click OK.
6.When you are prompted, click Restart.

When I click “disable all” and then “ok”, it doesn’t prompt me to restart. So I went back in and it re-checked the “Load start-up items” and all the things I “disabled” were enabled… I tried it again and manually reset the computer (hoping I was just over thinking it all). I’ll let you know how it goes after a bit of use.

Still having problems. Excel wouldn’t respond, when I searched for a file it would make a sound when I tried to click on the folder and wouldn’t open it. I had to re-boot and it seems ok.

Sounds like it may be a memory problem

Could you test the memory http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

I ran the test. Was something supposed to pop up after the restart?

If no errors were reported during the scan then it is OK

Are you still having the excel problem ?

It seems to be ok right now. Let me run it for 24 hrs and get back to you.
