Small problem!

Hi, I Bought Avast pro V.5 Yesterday, and had no problems at all… had all my shields up and everything was working fine, Until this morning. I had to turn my Mail and Internet shields off just so i could get online, and be able to check my mail.

Whats wrong?

And also, Why Doesn’t Avast reply to their support mail?

What OS are you using? Is this version 5.0.418? Do you get any error messages? Are you using SSL mail like Gmail or similar? By Internet Shield, do you mean Web Shield or Network Shield. What security software were you running before and how did you uninstall it? First thing to do is try a reboot if you haven’t already done that, since there have been reports of several reboots needed to really stabilize some of the installations.

xp pro , Sp2, 5.0.418… i ma using the Gmail Notifier and i am able to log right into that with no problem. I am using incredimail to get my mail from yahoo. I am talking about Web shield and Mail shield. I ran both all day yesterday with no problems at all. The only error messages i receive, are standard messages from Firefox, saying “cant be found” or “Cant connect”. What it says on my mail, is Cant connect. as soon as i turned both off, they work fine. The only sucruity Software i am running is Avast Pro. What i was running before was the Demo to avast anti virus…(free edition) , and i uninstalled it before i installed the pro version. I will try the reboot and get back to you.

Hey Bud, Just wanted to let you know that after i restarted everything works fine now… Thanks man…

Just one other small thing and its not a really big deal.so its not really gonna affect me if it does not work… When try to run Yahoo messenger Virtualized, i get a error… I forget what the error was… i can take a pic and post it if you want to though.

Sure, post the picture. I don’t use Yahoo Messenger, but others here do and can probably help chase it down. Are you also using the IM Shield? Maybe turn that off and see what happens. Glad the rest is working for you.

Sded:

Yeah thanks for the help on the other stuff… That was a life saver…

here is the error i get when trying to open it virtualized… its not a big deal, I turned the virtulized off and it works fine, But i thought that maybe they should know about it though.

Like i said . its not a huge deal… i have always ran it without any shield, But i am afraid to try running anything virtualized, just because of the error.
