Smart Scan ends in software asking me to buy a subscription

Smart Scan says there are issues, and to click to solve the issues. Despite having a subscription to Avast Premium, clicking to solve the issues, just takes me to a screen that asks me to pay for a subscription! I have tried to repair the installation, and reinstalled the software, but as soon as I try the Smart Scan, back to square one and it wants me to pay again! Any ideas?

More info needed: What issues?
What subscription?

Avast Premium subscription. When you install the software, it invites you to run a Smart Scan, that ultimately ends with the software asking you to pay for a subscription, despite me just having paid for a subscription. I don’t know how much more information you are expecting. The software is not working correctly, how do I fix it? A repair of the installation did not fix the problem, neither did a reinstallation of the software.

Based on information provided, I can only suggest adjusting your privacy settings like the screenshot. Settings > General > Personal Privacy

I believe it’s nothing more than an ad, I suggest just ignore it.
Because of this I rarely run smart scan.

Thanks for your input, but that’s not the answer.

Smart Scan on the free version of Avast does indeed lead to what is in effect an advert to buy the full package, but as I already have a subscription, the Smart Scan should finish with an accomplishment of virus killed or suspicious process blocked, not an advert for something that is supposed to be included in a paid for package. Just ignoring the Smart Scan is not a good enough answer for a paid for package, and this will be the last and only sell to this user. You have to remember, If a customer likes your product, he’ll tell virtually no one, if you have a poor product, the customer is likely to tell every one!

Right-click the orange Avast icon in your system tray and select Subscription information. What does it show? Paid subscription, or free? Better yet, post a screenshot (but black out any personal information).

BTW, did you adjust your privacy settings as I previously suggested?

It’s a Paid subscription

And did you change your privacy options? Never mind, I’m done fighting for information here. Good luck!

I refer you to an earlier answer.

Well, I mostly agree to you, but I’m not an employee or like that so all I can do is to suggest for you to ignore these ads.

Your saying is repeated numerous times in this community for similar reasons/situations, yet things are like this. Maybe marketing guys have stronger facts than user’s understandings.

As the Smart Scan appears to be part of the paid version, one would expect it to do a Smart Scan, sort anything it can fix, or offer solutions for what it can’t, not take the p1ss! Thank you for your time and effort. If I had paid for the software, I’d be asking for my money back!

I think you should reconsider Lano’s answer and insistence, because since you use avast premium security (paid) it’s not normal that at the end of the smart scan avast offers you another product if you’ve unchecked the boxes in “Personal Privacy” like Lano’s screenshot #3.

I’ve been using premium and its smart scan for years and with the boxes unchecked, it (the smartscan) has never offered me a subscription to another of their products.

The only thing is that they’re not unchecked by default and it’s normal for avast to offer you other subscriptions if you launch the smart scan directly after installing premium security…You should uncheck before.

It wants me to subscribe again to fix issues that Smart Scan is supposed to fix. It’s not offering me a different product to fix the issues that Smart Scan found, but the exact same software that was already paid for!

This is not normal, but we’d understand it better if you’d post an explicit screenshot of what’s displayed at the end of the smart scan.

Here’s mine, and you’ll see that nothing is suggested to me.

in english :star_struck: :skull_and_crossbones: :upside_down_face:

What’s more, you never mentioned that you had unchecked the famous boxes; you merely said that there was no point.

The scan has three parts, operating system, viruses and malware and advanced issues. The scan clears the first 2, the 3rd highlights x amount of advanced issues and a green button with the legend Resolve All appears. Now one would expect the button to resolve all the advanced issues when pressed, not taken to the subscribe to this software screen that I am always taken to. The subscribe screen is not offering anything other than the software that is already subscribed to. If it was telling me that to solve these advanced issues needed different software, then it would be up to me to either pay for the different software or not, but it just wants me to buy a subscription for software I have already paid for!

Still no screenshot , which I’m sure would be the best way to see what the smart scan can do to fix advanced problems.

You’re mistaken in thinking that avast premium security is the complete tool for solving all problems.

It’s not designed to solve the advanced problems displayed by smart scan, but only - as you say - for the first 2 parts

Here again, I think a screenshot would help us move you forward, as I’m pretty sure we’re not offering you the same product you already have.

To solve advanced problems, avast offers “Cleanup Premium”, which is different from “security Premium”.
Otherwise, uncheck the boxes and “end” the subscription request.

Anyway, as far as I’m concerned, without a screenshot I’ll give you the same answer as Lano :

Your screenshot leads me to believe English is not your first language. If the issues that the software has highlighted can only be sorted by paying for different Avast software, it would take me to the different software screen. It doesn’t, it takes me to a screen that asks me to pay a subscription for the same software I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR!

Post a screenshot so WE CAN SEE WHAT YOU SEE!
