I am not canceling it - I can only assume that there is some malware out there protecting itself. Anyone else having this problem?
As has been told in many threads already, it is a known bug.
Smart Scan is a multi-faceted scan; several scans rolled into one.
What is the last scan it is hanging on? If you look in the log what do you see?
I looked almost everywhere for the log(s) - I say “almost everywhere” because obviously, I could not find them - I have Avast Premier - can you direct me to the logs for the last scan? Thanks! Joe
@ Joe,
Control Panel>File Explorer Options (in Win 10)>Drive C: You will need to unhide hidden files to view ProgramData folder, which is hidden from view.
See attached below:
If other than Win 10, Control Panel will list as File Explorer.
When done, set all files/folders back to hidden.
Check the avastUI > Protection > Antivirus > Scan History, if it did complete as is suggested then an entry should be there.
Also check the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\Viruses & Malware.txt, which is the virus scan element of the Smart Scan.
Hi, Eddy,
This is another “known bug” that has been around for a long time (since this new version was released) with no answer from the Avast developers. The same thing with the slow-to-load GUI.
This is kind of annoying.
Yeah, I see this problem on multiple machines (usually at or near 99%). Clicking ‘Details’ starts a new scan instead of providing details of the previous one.
I’ve gained a lot out of Avast over the years so cannot really complain. That said, I can’t help but think they’d do better by taking some resources of complete UI re-designs every new release, and just fixing some bugs.
