You don’t show what avast version you are using in your signature. Many found that this was resolved in an earlier beta, so it should be in 17.4.2294 released yesterday.
Yes, I am using the 17.4.2294 version (not Beta).
That is what I’m saying, this bug was squashed in the previous beta build and the last beta version was also 17.4.2294. I really hate it when they don’t change the bloody version number when releasing a (so called) new program version, it confuses the hell out of people. Meaning the last beta was fine, but now we are seeing issues in the regular program release that weren’t an issue in the beta.
Did you upgrade or performed a clean installation of the latest version ?
Hi, Eddy,
Thanks for your concern. First, I upgraded from the GUI, but later I decided to uninstall and to make a clean installation. But the problem remains the same. In fact, I upgraded Avast in another computer (at work) and the same thing happens.
I know these are minor problems, but after several weeks waiting for a new release to fix these and other issues, my perception is that nothing has changed, and this is very dissapointing.
Anyways … thank you for taking time to show interest.
You’re welcome.
This is frustrating as hell, I never actually had this problem in the previous regular release, some that did have the issue found it resolved at some point in the beta testing session. Only to see it make a reappearance when released as a regular program update.
One thing that I did find in the beta session was an Invisible Smart Scan, when you first opened the UI after a reboot there was a Notification relating the the Smart Scan having found some issues, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=201522.msg1390112#msg1390112.
This did get fixed by a micro update or avast emergency update, I just wonder if the fix may have broken something else, but I haven’t experience your issue.
When performing the clean installation, did you use avastclear ?
Did you use the off-line or the on-line installer to install avast again ?
I clean installed the latest version (17.4.2294) using the offline installer with a custom install after running avastclear.exe and my daily scheduled quick scan completes successfully but the fly-out shows the scan was cancelled at 99%. This has been present in previous versions for quite a while now and I too hoped this version may of solved it.
Maybe one day. :
Edit - Now I think about it, clicking “Details” starts the quick scan again. ???
By the way, I haven’t installed any beta version.
I performed another Smart Scan today, and the issue is still there (see image attached).
In the attached images, I want to try to show you how is the boot sequence of the Avast GUI in my experience.
I mean, it doesn’t open up smoothly, as it did in previous releases of Avast.
