I am using SMS blocker to filter out spam messages, but i noticed it blocks some good messages also.
For example, yesterday i had to receive sms from a shop called ULMART. But it was blocked by SMS blocker.
Why was it?
The word “ULMART” is not in black list. There is no such contact in addresss book. Sms app shows this message like it came from ULMART with no digital number.
Message shield was active, but i disabled “block or not block” dialog long time ago. Now i disabled message shield also, may be it is the reason?
So yes, message was really blocked.
It was not first time when correct message was blocked, that’s why i looked in avast blocked sms log.
The other example of unwanted blocking was sms from the sender “Anketka”, also not in address book and no digital number.
probably the only thing we can do about this at the moment is to ask you to enable debug logging (go to Settings-About and tap 5 times on the version area) and when such message gets blocked again, go to Settings-About-Send feedback, fill it in and post the ticked ID you’ll receive on your email here. Hopefully, if you are fast enough, there will be something in the logs that we’ll receive.
I assume, may be this messages from ULMART and Anketka come from the same source, as some other spam messages, and then avast blocks them, because they have something similar.
No, they just say “…blocks useful messages…”, “…bank notifications…” and etc.
But the same thing - from senders addresses made from letters, not digits.
Well, “letter senders” are not officially supported by Android as SMS messages so even though we try, it might not work 100% on all devices. It might be that even though you see “ULMART” as a sender, we might get something completely different in the code. That’s why I want to get a log from you to confirm or deny that.
Yes, i think you’re right and something you wrote is happening.
So, i captured one more message (really spam) from “Time Kredit” sender. But “Time Kredit” is not in black list group, so it shouldn’t be blocked.
I sent bug report № AMSFB #GZJ-536-66079 with system log.
OK, I think we found the issue (it’s in system unfortunatelly). We’ll try to do something about it (probably code it by ourselves) and see if it gets any better in the next version
The same thing is happening with me, and I’m also from Russia (ulmart, cool shop, guy!)
I will post screenshots to describe that sms filter is definitely malfunctioning:
The second image shows the filter settings. Be sure that “all hidden numbers” or “all unknown numbers” were not included in this group members list, so the filter could only trash out these arbitrary 14 members. Anyway, even including them does not change a bit.
The third image shows that this sender (as a number 2265667589, corresponding to “moscow bank”) was added to my address book, so the filter could not block him because he is a whitelisted trusted sender!
