SMS commands not hidden

Just installed Mobile Security and Anti-Theft module. Previously tried Cerberus with no result. Hope Avast is better.

My smartphone: HTC Droid Incredible (DINC), originally Gingerbread 2.3.6, now Jelly Bean 4.2 via CyanogenMod 10.1 (unofficial CM, modded by Tiny but it works very well on everything else)

Am testing my phone (not actually lost/stolen).

I have completely set basic and advanced preferences, and Anti-Theft reports active when I check it by dialing my PIN (which also verifies the accuracy of what I am entering for the PIN).

When I send SMS commands to turn on GPS (SET AUTOGPS 1) and LOCATE
from the VZW website (https://web.vma.vzw.com/vtext/guest/Dashboard.do):

  1. the message tone sounds and the messages appear in the inbox – your user guide assures that neither is supposed to happen!
  2. Nothing happens with either command – GPS does not turn on, and even when I manually turn GPS on and verify it is working with the NavFree app, the LOCATE command does nothing.

Nothing appears in Notifications on my.avast.com account UNLESS I have WiFi turned on and it is actually connected to a broadcaster.
With GPS only turned on, no notifications appear, and no GPS coordinates or map appears in the Anti-Theft tab.

So far, Avast is no better than Cerberus.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

this sounds like you’re using an sms client that catches the incoming command SMS before Anti-Theft can.
Open Anti-theft - do you see an “Issues” warning in the top right corner? select it and I guess you’ll find your sms app as potentially incompatible.
