SMS filter failing

Hi everyone,

I’ve got avast mobile free on my phone (Motorola Razr i, located in Switzerland) and the SMS filter seems to fail about every day. I have one person blocked (2 numbers, all the time) and about once a day a message gets through. The process seems to be running at the time, the log shows nothing, but when I reopen the program it kicks back in again (as far as I can tell).

This is mildly irritating to me (I’m changing my number, so I can be mellow about it) but it’s pretty problematic for a blocker to fail like that.

Any advice? Otherwise the happy with it.

OK, it’s gone from letting in an occasional SMS to as far as I can tell not working at all.

I’ve got two versions of the blocklist, one taken from my contacts and the other from the SMS records, nothing- total failure. Has the module crashed? I reboot the phone and it still doesn’t work.

Could you please advice the device type, version of OS, version of avast and how did you set the SMs blocker? Are you using hangout or SMS sender? Any custom launcher? Not every factory ROM (like LG) allows to block SMS intents…

Like I said previously, I have two blocklists of the same number (one taken from the call logs, on taken from my contacts.) They were in sequence, but now I have them on alternating days to see if that helps. I’m doing nothing- I just want the things blocked. The blocker USED to work, then started to fail.

Now my logs show no activity, but I get messages from the blocked number every day.

It seems like it just failed completely, and isn’t working at all.

Please try to delete all rules and delete the log (if exists), then add new rule based on custom number/advanced…thanks

did you, by any chance, install some apps that might interfere with it since the last time it worked? Cause if the log is empty (and what Jan said didn’t help), it means something is interfering with AMS. It can be apps like SMS clients, other SMS blockers, Anti-Theft apps etc.

Nope, nothing installed. It worked great for a couple of weeks then just started to progressively fail. I’ve not seen anything get through since I changed the settings per what Jan said, but there’s nothing in the log either. I’m changing my number next week, so its minimal stress for me, but it is a bit disconcerting that it failed like that.

we would get something from extended logs, but if you can’t easily reproduce the problem, they will be hard to get (as you would have to look for the blocked/not blocked message then send us the logs as soon as possible).

Just as a related note, putting the “delete logs” icon in the same place as the “open logs” icon is on the previous page makes it very easy to accidentally delete the logs when opening (one shaky tap and they’re gone).

I don’t need my logs for court, but I’m sure some users do… a 2-stage delete process would make it less volatile.

Number changed now, but no incidents (logged or getting through) between last posting and the switch on Sunday.

Interested to hear if anyone else ran into this, though.
