I recall reading several posts that mention it is or was in learning mode. If it’s not fully operational when will it be? If it is, why is the default set to “allow” when it seems it should not allow everything.
Thanks

The behaviour shield is still in passive learning mode in 5.1.889 and should hopefully be completed by the time they release 6 stable but im not completly sure about that, depends on how much information they have collected and whether they’ve had enough time to implement all of this.
I wonder then if it should be advertised if it’s not functional and there’s no definite time for it to be functional. (If I put to ask it does ask about some programs, so it it partially functional?) Other than sending info to avast!, what is it doing to protect a computer?
Behavior Shield is working well on my Windows 7 system with avast! 6.0.945
I still wonder what the BehShd is doing in “allow” mode other than collecting info.
Off the topic a little–I’m not positive but it seems that when i change the setting to “Ask” I can’t reply to some email. I had this before and tried F-Secure trial and didn’t have the problem during that time and with avast! and “Ask” it seems to be back. It could just be avast! I guess.
This is why its set to allow by default so it doesn’t cause issue’s and can just collect the information that avast need’s to refine it.
Seems questionable to advertise something that is not actually providing any protection currently to a user or buyer. :-\ Maybe I’m still missing something if it’s doing something other than collecting (which is not protecting anything at present). Sounds like this should just run in the background and not be listed as a method of protection. That would cross my marketing morals. I love avast! but that’s a little troubling. How many think they are being protected by this when they are not at present?
