… and now, I can’t turn on my firewall. Any insight as to what’s happening here?
Repair avast!:
- Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
- Click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
I went to the Programs & Features part of the Control Panel and found avast, but there was no repair option when I selected it. What do?
Also, running Windows 7.
- Which avast!..?? (IS/Premier)
- Which version…??
- OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
- Other security related software installed…??
- Which AV(s) did you use before avast!..??
- Premier
- 2014.9.0.2011, the most recent version, as I updated it just last night
- Windows 7, 32-bit, I believe. What’s an SP?
- Super Anti-Spyware, which I installed last night as well, and promptly uninstalled this morning due to avast! acting up.
- Er… does Windows Security Essentials count?
SP means Service Pack. SP1 would be the latest for W7. Do you have it installed…??
Yep. SP1 is installed.
- Download avast! Premier Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
- Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
It worked! Thanks so much for your help!
You’re welcome.
