So what does AIS cost?

Following on from another posted topic (French/Canada), which I assume was resolved, I’m now confused as to what the price of AIS is. I’m being asked to pay £39.99 (British pounds) for a renewal, but I see it advertised elsewhere at $39.99 (US dollars) - each offer includes 10 units of the relevant currency discount. Can that be right given the current exchange rate (about 1.57)? Last year, as a new customer, I paid about £27 (suspiciously about $40?!) so am I really looking at 50% inflation for renewing in UK pounds - or (hopefully) has someone not been bothered to adjust for currencies? What has anyone paid in the UK recently?

Thanks for any clarification before my time is up and I have to hit the “buy” button - or not.

Speculation only, but, could be they charge a flat rate with no regard to exchange rates.

Simple … last year AIS was on a very keen upgrade offer in the UK with a discount of @50% and a new 1st time purchase was also discounted heavily.

Now you will be paying the normal renewal price so whatever they are quoting is the price.

Im getting the 50% off offer at the moment though my GUI which works out to $49.99 Aus, same as US at the moment for 3pc’s one year.

You are seeing the hook as an avast free user to upgrade, whilst AdrianH had already upgraded so won’t see this initial upgrade discount.

@ AdrianH
This is nothing new in the UK finding the ever currency under the sun seems to have parity with the £ when it comes to purchases on-line and even retail at times.

You could try in the renewal process to change the currency to $US or $Aus if that is a better deal and pay through Paypal, which would convert that to £ anyway.Mind you that may not be possible to switch currencies based on tax issues, so it may be an option to use the dreaded € euro.

Either that or you could try to uninstall AIS install the free version and take advantage of only a 40% discount (UK offer in my free version), getting stiffed here too ;D

Thanks for the comments everyone - I guess marketing is marketing, though strange that the global village still allows the little local village shop to be just that, even if online. Naively, I would have been looking for a loyalty bonus (leaving the hook 'em and gut 'em philosophy to the banks). Still, with the new caring, sharing social order that is breaking out all over the UK may I won’t have to wait too long!
