I have no idea if they are the best, but here are two:
- Naomi Parental Control software (freeware) http://www.radiance.m6.net/
- Or K9 Web Protection, more flexible, less radical (closing the browser). Worth a try www.k9webprotection.com.
You can also use OpenDNS.org as your DNS server and that has some default blocking of known malicious sites, etc. There is also another OpenDNS function, ‘Dashboard’ which allowy distinct filtering by category.

I use OpenDNS, all the filtering software is on their servers. No hd space is used & my computer resources aren’t used.
The only OpenDNS component on my computer is the updater.
