Software is trying to access my email address

Software is trying to access my email address in Microsoft outlook. I get a warning from my computer but not from Avast software 4 Professional Edition. I select no to allow no access and then outlook freezes. How is this fixed? Can you help?

What is the full text message ?
Do you know whet is responsible for the alert ?

If not perhaps if you can capture an image of it.

Thanks for your reply Davidr
It seems that Microsoft Outlook is giving the mesage. i did a print screen. the software will receive but not send. even thou all test come out good.

First there has been a program update, 4.8.1282, so I would suggest you do a manual program update, right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select Updating, Program Update, this will make things easier later on.

When you try to send is this the same error message or is it different if so what is that ?

As mentioned in the screenshot it could be undetected malware on your system, some email spambots try to get the information (email addresses) from your email address book and system.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode and report the findings (it should product a log file).

  1. SUPERantispyware On-Demand only in free version.
  2. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware freeware version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later.

Should any of these detect any malicious file (excluding cookies) before processing save a copy to the avast chest (see below 1) so we can confirm the detection (see below 2) and send to avast if the detection is good (see below 3).

1

You can add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest where it can do no harm.

#2
Upload the file/s to VirusTotal, Send a sample to avast if multiple detections at VT and (see below).

#3
Send it from the User Files section of the chest (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). This process has been modified from the latest version 4.8.1282 to make it easier, it doesn’t actually get emailed, but transferred when the next avast auto (or manual) update is done.
