IIRC, at one time Open Office offered two different downloads; one with Java and the other without. You had the choice on the download page.

It was a long time ago that I first downloaded OO. I must have chosen the one with java.
It was back in 2008 that I first used OO.

If you’re asking me, the answer is NO. Even though some haven’t had any problems. I know of other that have had a problem.
The time saving feature of cleaning your registry amounts Milliseconds. IMHO not worth taking a chance not to reboot the system at all.

Do you think that’s what has caused the problem I described to you and essexboy in this thread about not being able to update from Windows 8 to 8.1? I used to clean the registry regularly with CCleaner automatically by just selecting “fix all issues” without even looking at the entries individually. Although, I did clean install Windows 8 before attempting the 8.1 update and didn’t use CCleaner after the clean install.

Simple answer NO. I have one computer here that I haven’t been able to upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 and I’m also waiting for the next upgrade
before trying it again. That computer never had it’s registry cleaned.

I’ll be waiting till 8.1.1 or whatever they finally decide to call the next release.
