software updater fails

The software updater is notifying meof updates to aobe flash etc but repeatedly fails to complete updates with “Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi… Verify that you have access to that directory.”

I’ve searched the net and tried changing the folders permissions but still it fails. But I can update manually. I’m using windows vista 32 bit.

Surprised that I se to be the first to post on this here.

Anyone have a solution, I have disabled avast software updater and an now updating manually. How about going back to a free version which doesn’t try to be so clever!

Thanks all!

I really don’t pay the updater any mind, the only time i’ve asked it to update (chrome was the program in question) it wasn’t able to. Besides the ability to tell you you have programs out of date… that’s it’s only real use. Just manually update your programs on their relevant websites. If I remember right it was something you could opt out of installing in a custom install.

If you have multiple versions of Java installed then you will keep getting offered the updates. Uninstall all bar the latest version
