Software Updater glitch w/ Adobe Reader

I was forced to reinstall this latest Avast (Free) because the Software Updater part wouldn’t recognize that I had uninstalled the (out of date) Adobe Reader 10, and installed the newer Reader 11 version. It kept on wanting to do the update of Reader 10, even though it no longer existed.
A Rescan didn’t help, nor did multiple reboots - it would not let go of the old Reader.
Is there a better way to have solved this conundrum?

I also have this same problem. Adobe Reader help menu says already up to date but avast kepps wanting me to update. Also Adobe Air update sticks on “preparing”

@psychogre and jmarsh2: Do a repair of Avast via add/remove, follow instructions, and after it has done repair restart your computer manually.

jmarsh2 make sure your adobe reader and air is updated and follow the above direction as mentioned.
