Software Updater is always wrong!

How do I fix that??

Hello everyone!

Software updater keeps popping up telling me I need to update stuff and no updates are ever needed. Adobe, IE, Java and a couple others. If I go to the programs website to update, they tell me I’m up to date and if I try to update from within avast 8.0.1483, via software updater, where it says “Update Availabe” if I click fix now it just changes to “error.” I really don’t need it because those programs have their own update remninders anyway, but the point is it’s broken on my Vista Ultimate Machine. Should I just do a custom install and get rid of it or is there a fix?

Thank You!!
Beau

It appears this question has pretty much been discussed to death in a couple other posts that I just found. I did a seach for “Software Updater” and they didn’t come up before I posted this :frowning: I apologize for wasting your time!

After reading those, I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that that particular module has not been completely developed.
I’m sure it will be fixed soon  Thanks again for a great program!

Try resetting Avast! software updater database:

  1. Open Avast User interface
  2. Select “Settings” to the right of “Account”
  3. Select “Software Updater” from the list
  4. Select “Database reset” → “Reset database now”

Else, you could try the repair function of Avast! installer:

  1. Select “Start” (Windows logo)
  2. Select “Control Panel”
  3. Select “Programs and Features”
  4. Select “avast!..”
  5. Select “Repair”

Yeah I tried both those, same issue. Thank you though. I’m sure it’ll get fixed and be in an update eventually!

Hi!

I see another opportunity: open avast-GUI, select ‘Software Updater’ and let you show (selecting ‘More details’ for every item). There you can choose ‘ignore’.
Otherside (if you don’t want ‘Software Updater’ at all):
→ Windows settings (via Software (XP)/ Programs and functions (W7) de-install ‘avast’ selecting ‘change’, you can untick ‘Software Updater’.
You need admin-rights.
