Software Updater Keeps Showing OneDrive Update Needed When Already Up To Date Version Installed

I updated Microsoft OneDrive through Avast on two PCs and both keep showing that I have an old version of the application installed even though when I check the version in OneDrive it shows as up to date. When I keep trying to reinstall it gives a failure. And when a new version comes out, it shows the old version still installed on Avast and gives the choice to update t the latest version. However, when I update to the next latest version, it again gives a failure even though when I go check in OneDrive it shows the application is now up to date.

I have done a repair of Avast as well as uninstalling OneDrive and reinstalling. This has happened on two PCs of mine but not others. The help page for database reset I believe is outdated as that feature no longer exists from what I can tell in the geek section of the program.

Hi @gaazmon and thank you for reporting this problem. Can you please check if the problem persists when you close OneDrive? Please do the following:

  1. Open Avast Software Updater and go to the screen with the UPDATE button next to OneDrive.
  2. Manually quit OneDrive (right-click the OneDrive icon and then select Quit OneDrive)
  3. Go back to Avast and click the UPDATE button.

Please let me know if the above flow works.

Yes it still does. I have to quit OneDrive as well as it’s sync service through task manager every time I need to update through Avast this application. Also, it keeps showing a much older version of OneDrive currently installed on Avast, not even the currently installed version. When I do the install, it states “Close App” in red, but the program does get updated properly.

I have even gone into the temp folder where the OneDrive installer file gets downloaded to by Avast and have deleted it with no help.

I uninstalled both OneDrive and Avast. Reinstalled Avast and it still showed OneDrive needing updating, with the wrong current version of the software, even though OneDrive was uninstalled.

Thank you. File ID is HZPJM.

Thank you @gaazmon , we’re looking into it.
In the meantime, if you don’t wish to be notified about these updates, you can set OneDrive updates to be ignored in Avast Software Updater: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Use-Antivirus-Software-Updater/#idt_030
We apologize for this inconvenience.

I don’t use Software Updater and instead use the UCheck just to monitor. I expect OneDrive to update itself since that’s been it’s normal behavior. UCheck has been saying OneDrive is behind too so I think wherever it looks for a new OneDrive it’s seeing a new version but OneDrive is waiting before actually updating for some reason. Software Updater may also be assuming a visible updated version is ready to be pushed out officially.

@dwh yes, that can be a factor sometimes, but not always.

@gaazmon We will be releasing an update for the Software Updater engine in the upcoming program update v26.6 (planned for late June). I’ll try to give you a heads-up once it’s available.
