I’m not showing Google Chrome as an Software Updater option at all in AIS.
If you ignore the entry, Google Chrome will remain uninstalled as long as you do not manually start the install yourself.
I find Software Updater to be useful in keeping programs monitored by avast up to date, often only delaying an update by two or three days over the original vendor’s original update. It works.
To be clear, at the top of the page, it states 'Good job, all your software is up to date.
Below that, it states ‘Avast recommends Google Chrome, a free, safe web browser.’ There is an option to make Google Chrome my default browser and a box to install it but ‘NO’ Ignore option.
Below that is my ‘Ignored Software’ list and my ‘Up To Date Software’ list.
I realize that installing Google Chrome is not mandatory but I do not want it at the top of the list. It seems that the only way to ‘remove’ it from the top is to install it, which I do not want to do.
Bob’s suggestion would only apply if you had actually installed Chrome.
However, I can recall the Software Updater having a recommendation above above the other out of date software (and Install was the only option) requiring update. I just ignored it and I haven’t seen it since.
Software Updater has a Google Chrome recommendation, with an ‘install’ link, above the ‘Out of Date Software’ list but no ‘ignore’ option link beside it.
The exact wording is ‘Avast recommends Google Chrome, a free, safe web browser’ with the ‘install’ link beside it and a ‘Make Google Chrome my default browser’ option below it.
The ‘Ignore updates’ link only appears next to ‘out of date’ software. Google Chrome is not out of date because it has not even been installed.
How do I remove it from the list (so that it does not keep reminding me to install it)?
