Software Updater reporting Internet Explorer out-of-date Windows 7

I’m new to this forum so I hope I am posting this in the right place. For about a week, the software updater in my free Avast program is saying that Internet Explorer is out of date. I perform Windows updates daily on my Windows 7 PC and it has all updates. I seldom use IE as a browser (I use Firefox mainly) but when I open IE it appears to be up to date.

I have not tried updating Explorer through the software updater, because: 1) I don’t think it needs updating, and 2) I am afraid of the Avast updating the program without informing me of options to allow or decline any changes such as browser addons and homepage or search engine preferences. And once earlier this year, another user updated Explorer on my computer and it screwed everything up, requiring a full Windows 7 reinstall. So what I’m saying is I’m cautious to only update Windows programs from the official Windows Update app that is part of the control panel.

Has anyone else been noticing this issue with the software updater and Internet Explorer?

Software Updater has small problem with Internet Explorer update, the problem is known and fixed already, fix should be available today with VPS update.

Per Windows 10 version 1511 OS build 10586.494 Internet Explorer is the current version which is 11.494.10586.0.
Per the Anniversary Win 10 update the version number changes back to a November version number which is 11.0149393.0 and once again avast shows that it needs updating to 11.0.33… because Microsoft has intentionally incorporated this version into the Anniversary update. I know this to be true after several attempts contacting Microsoft they finally admitted this fact to me.
I am uncertain if Avast if aware of this development it is not published. 8)
