Software Updater

A couple of programs even though up to date are constantly ‘preparing’. Avast does not recognise they are up to date.

They are Java Runtime Environment 7 (32bit) and Mozilla Firefox

Short of ignoring both of them, which i don’t want to do, how do i fix this so Avast recognises they’re up to date?

Thanks.

Have you tried the rescan button, it may jolt it out of its slumber.

Yep, tried rescan and just updated to version 8.0.1483. Still the same.

If you have just updated to .1483, did you reboot afterwards, even so I would give that a try.

There has also just been a VPS update 130308-1, so ensure that you have that it may also update the software updater database.

Rebooted and updated definitions, still the same.

Strange that it was able to get and update both your JAVA 6 versions. You should just have the latest JAVA versions. Ideally unless you actually have applications and or websites that you have to visit and they use JAVA (not JavaScript), then you should simply uninstall JAVA.

Strange indeed! I suppose it is just a current bug as I see that a few people are having various issues with Software Updater. Guess I’ll just have to wait until the next Avast 8 update.
