This afternoon Avast! asked me to update a couple of programs. (Adobe, Java …)

A deceptive screen offered to install some game (Pokki?). Fortunately, I clicked the do not accept option.

Does Avast! really try to trick me into installing garbage? Please tell me it ain’t so. Until now I’ve been quite satisfied with the product, but will investigate other options if this happens again.

You are being directed to a site to download the update, unfortunately some of the download sites also offer additional downloads - decline those.

It’s a well known fact that the Java update pushes 3rd party software.
Maybe you should install Unchecky to help to prevent some of this.
You should also use the custom method to install all programs. Default can lead to unexpected results.
