[SOLVED] "-505" error trying to install under lollipop 5.0.2

Hi,

I’ve been getting the dreaded:

Unknown error code during application installation: "-505"
when trying to install avast, since the lollipop update on my Nexus 7 (2012). Google said this was fixed in 5.0.1 but the problem remained for me.

I’ve just got round to installing adb [Android Debug Bridge] because I didn’t realise
it was available on Ubuntu until today.

Avast does not appear in the packages list (suggestions said it might be lurking hidden),
but I found some entries like this in the logcat output:

W/PackageManager(24528): Package com.avast.android.mobilesecurity attempting to redeclare permission com.dolphin.browser.permission.ACCESS_PROVIDER already owned by com.dolphin.browser

So, I tried uninstalling Dolphin Browser and then avast installed OK

Cheers,

Dave

Yes, we shared this permission with older versions of Dolphin - the reason is web shield - but they do not cooperate much, so this could happed. Anyway, thanks for the report.
