*SOLVED* After years of use Avast has let me down

So after years of using the paid version of Avast and Grimefighter and it doing everything and more then what I expected I am sad to say that they have let me down. For a few months now I have been having issues with my computer (which I custom built so I knew something was wrong because I know whats in my computer). The issues I have been having are that my computer would freeze out of nowhere and require me to restart and it would also randomly restart on its own. I did everything I could to make sure that these issues where fixed from upping the RAM to heat tests to memory tests and every test and update I did to my computer did not help. So I started to dig deeper and deeper in my research of why the hell my computer was freezing and restarting. One day my friend told me that he was having the same issues and that he took his computer into a shop and they uninstalled Avast. After they uninstalled Avast he said that his computer has not froze nor restarted not one single time. Me being the loyal customer I am refused to believe that Avast was the issue here so I continued my research. I tried all the advice I could get and nothing worked. After all the research and money and time spent trying to fix this I decided that it was time to try what my friend tried and uninstall Avast. After I uninstalled Avast and ran with no antivirus I had no issues with freezing or restarting. I figured that ok now whatever it was is fixed so I reinstall Avast. Nope within the hour my computer freezes. I uninstall Avast and install Microsoft Security Essentials and have been using them for a bit and now I am having no freezing and no restarting. My computer is also booting up faster and me being the gamer I am while playing I am not getting FPS drops. I am sorry to say that I cannot have Avast installed on my computer until this is fixed. Please fix this because I have come to love and trust Avast and I want to continue being a customer.

Uninstall Grimefighter and use Avast.
Any better?

Huh…why didn’t I think of this. Thanks Schmidt I am going to go try that now.

Reinstalling now. Chose to custom install and unchecked Grimefighter. Hope this works. Will keep you updated.

Ok so have it reinstalled and had to restart my computer for it to take effect. On the restart my computer took quite some time to boot up. Hopefully this is just because it was just installing whatever it had to. Will jump on DOTA2 and see if my FPS drops or if it freezes

ok so far so good. Restarted my computer again to make sure it starts up fast and it does and so far no lagging FPS drops or freezing. When you mentioned removing Grimefighter I started thinking back and when I got Grimefighter is about when all this started happening. Thanks again for the tip.

My computer was freezing quite often as well until I too removed Grime Fighter at which time it was greatly improved.

You’re welcome

NO!!! So I get on today thinking that everything is going good, then right in the middle of a match BAM!!! my computer freezes. I will try one more time but I cant keep doing this. If anyone has any other tips please let me know.

When you re-installed avast did you use the avast uninstaller tool before you re-installed?
The issue could be some low level drivers left behind. If you decide to use the tool you will be
prompted to reboot into safe mode…click “yes”.
