Hi, I recently installed avast! Anti-Theft on my daughter’s LG Optimus Logic, and I’m having a weird issue. The Anti-Theft app works perfectly with the online interface, sending location, forwarding SMS’s, etc. However when I try to control the app with SMS commands, the app is completely unresponsive. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have a possible solution?
Hi,
Please check if:
- The command is correct (Eg. 2222 LOCK ,2222 here is your PIN number)
- Sometime due to mobile network, the message maybe not sent to the phone yet.
I’ve already checked that the command syntax is correct.
SMS messages sent immediately before and after the command SMS reach the phone within 30 seconds. Command SMS’s have been tried during different times and locations to provide different network conditions. They consistently do not work, while normal SMS messages continue to consistently reach the phone very quickly.
The fact that the command SMS’s never show up in the Inbox of the phone’s messaging app makes me think that at least Anti-Theft is receiving them, and not passing the messages along to the messaging app… But why doesn’t Anti-Theft act on them?
P.S. Anti-Theft is NOT set to receive commands only from a trusted number. Besides, if it was, I’m using the trusted number to test.
Problem SOLVED.
I went back to double check the Anti-Theft settings and found that the allow commands only from friends option was turned on. I had specified mine and my wife’s numbers as international numbers (as recommended) - and that is what was stopping the commands. Changed both back to regular numbers and now Anti-Theft is working 100%.
Why is it recommended if it breaks functionality?
good to hear
