[SOLVED]Avast 5 Free installation does not start

Hi all!

Hopefully, my problem is not the one which was already responded to, but in the same time I believe that there is a solution for me either.

Well, I was avast 4.8 Home edition user. Recently, I found out that avast 5 was released and decided to update. Downloaded the setup file, but after double-clicking on it, nothing really happened. Just a quick picture of setup initiating and a new process - avast.setup in the Task manager appeared. I tried to do the same in the safe mode - no result. I have unistalled avast 4.8, but no result again. Virus check in the safe mode with CureIt - no viruses found. I use laptop Dell Vostro 1310. Windows XP Pro SP 3.

Well, God bless the random clicking. The problem solved by File->Properties->Compatibility…" - “Disable additional text services”. The latter option must be active. ::slight_smile: ??? 8)
