Solved: Avast 8 free is making Windows premium start up very slowly

HI I was wondering if I could ask a question I have two computers in this house the computer I am talking about is Windows 7 Premium. When I installed avast 8 lasted version on this computer I restarted the computer and when it gets to the welcome screen it takes probably about 10 minutes at most just staying on the welcome screen and then it will finally go to the desktop. What I would like to now is how can I possibly fix this issue with avast 8 free.

Hi.

Same think happened to me, but only after the first reboot on new Avast 8 installation. Something related with Startup Scan, I guess.
If this situation persist on every Windows reboot, you should check the startup programs. If you have many of them, try to disable some, e.g Java Update, Flash player updates etc.
Another thing, I suggest to uncheck “enable rootkit scan on system start up”.

Try a repair. Control Panel>Programs and Features>Uninstall>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot :slight_smile:

edit: The roootkit scan on start-up is extremely super fast. 8)

HI I did a clean install of avast 8 free on Windows 7 premium yesterday though.

HI I did a repair of avast 8 free lasted version on Windows 7 premium the repair did speed things up a little bit. Thanks for the help and advice.
